Airport Ground Handling
The Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) Visa for Airport Ground Handling is designed to attract foreign workers to address labor shortages in airport operations in Japan. This visa allows skilled individuals to work in ground handling roles, including baggage handling, passenger services, and aircraft maintenance support.

• Applicants must generally be between 18 and 40 years old to qualify for the visa.

• Pass the Airport Ground Handling Skills Evaluation Test or possess equivalent experience

• Proficiency in specific tasks such as ramp handling, passenger services, or cargo
handling, depending on the job.

• Applicants must be in good physical and mental health to perform hospitality-related tasks, which may include long hours and physical labor.

Japanese Language Proficiency
• Pass the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N4 or higher, or
• Pass the Japan Foundation Test for Basic Japanese (JFT-Basic).
• Proficiency in Japanese is essential for understanding work instructions and safety
protocols.

• Prior experience in airport ground handling is not mandatory but can be beneficial.

• The initial visa is valid for up to 5 years (renewable annually or biannually).
• Workers cannot bring family members under the SSW Type 1 visa.

• Step 1: Pass the required skill and language proficiency tests.
